A Week Long Getaway To Cancun
I took a week long winter getaway to Cancun mexico this past winter. After the busy holiday season, it was nice to get away and relax . A good way to start off the new year.
We stayed at the Paradisus Cancun by Melia, a luxury resort located in the hotel zone. I was surprised at how friendly every staff member was, and all of the little details they paid attention to to make our stay better.
The weather wasn’t too hot. It was very windy and the temperature was around 24 to 25 degrees celsius. However we were lucky that the sun was out for pretty much our whole stay.
The resort has a quieter more relaxed atmosphere. There were mostly couples there. A nice scent of incense and herbal essences fills the air as you walk through the resort, and green vines hang from the banisters throughout the hotel making you feel like you’re always outside.
Food and restaurants were great. The hotel has a lounge feel with couches and leather beds locate throughout encouraging you to relax and socialize.
The entire hotel is equipped with Wifi which was super convenient. It was also pretty fast. The lobby has a few Mac desktop computers available for use. So this resort was a great place to work remotely from.
Other than enjoy the hotels amenities, we took a day trip to Chichen Itza, an ancient Mayan city with ruins. We also swam in a cenote which was beautiful.
This was my second visit to Mexico, first time to the Yucatan peninsula. From the short time i was there, i realized how much there is to see and experience with this rich culture. Will definitely have another Cancun vacation, but next time, will spend more time getting to know local culture and being in mexico away from the touristy feel of Cancun and the Riviera Maya.
